Pay more attention to cleaning work, environmental volunteers travel safely

The Kaohsiung City Environmental Protection Bureau recently visited Fengshan District to pay a visit to the injured environmental volunteer Aunt Li, who was injured when she accidentally slipped while performing environmental protection and cleanup work. Fortunately, she has recovered. Aunt Li also smiled and said, "You really have to pay more attention to safety when cleaning. You have to pay attention to many details. Otherwise, you won't be able to continue serving the community during your recuperation period. It makes me feel so uncomfortable."

The Environmental Protection Bureau has accident insurance for all environmental volunteers who join the city, but everyone would like to see "safe and sound without accidents"! Therefore, "how to prevent similar incidents from happening again" is a very important issue! The Environmental Protection Bureau has specially compiled the causes and prevention methods of common accidents during several operations. Please pay more attention and prevent accidents from happening again!

Slips: Often occur when the road is slippery or the soles of shoes are worn flat. Wear appropriate shoes and pay attention to the surrounding environment before performing environmental cleaning!
Sprains: Sprains are often caused by unstable center of gravity or improper application of force when carrying objects or going up and down stairs. Therefore, when cleaning or carrying, you must pay attention to your posture and concentrate! If the work is more complicated or there are too many things to carry, it is recommended to find a good partner to help you for safety.
Falling: Accidents can easily occur due to unstable center of gravity or not paying attention to surrounding conditions, especially when climbing high places! When climbing, you should keep your hands free, have someone accompany you, hold the ladder steady, and concentrate to effectively avoid accidents.
In addition to the common accidents mentioned above, it is also very important to pay attention to weather conditions! For example, when the weather is too hot, you need to wear and carry sunscreen and drink plenty of water to avoid heat stroke! The Environmental Protection Agency calls on all hard-working volunteers "While volunteers are enthusiastic and committed to serving the community, their own safety should be the first priority!" A clean environment is important, but “volunteer safety” should be a prerequisite so that the passion for service can continue to grow.

In addition, protecting the environment is not only the responsibility of environmental volunteers, everyone can contribute to protecting the environment, whether it is reducing the use of disposable plastic products or participating in cleaning activities are good ways to protect the environment!

The Kaohsiung City Environmental Protection Bureau hopes to invite more enthusiastic citizens to join our environmental volunteer team. Regardless of age, background or special skills, as long as you are passionate about protecting the environment, you are welcome to join us. Let us all work together to protect our environment.
