- Foreword:
With changes in the social environment and advancements in medical technology, average human lifespan is continuously increasing, and the quality of life is becoming more important than its length. Developed countries are entering a super-aged society, and spiritual health is considered a crucial aspect of holistic care (Gilbert, 2000). The World Health Organization (WHO) originally defined health as encompassing physical, mental, and social aspects; however, in the late 20th century, experts suggested adding a fourth aspect—"spiritual health." To align with the city's social welfare policies, the topic of spiritual care for the elderly has been incorporated into the environmental volunteer empowerment training course. Experts and scholars have been invited to share their insights and conduct courses related to environmental protection, aiming to improve the health and well-being of environmental volunteers, assist in the future development of environmental volunteer work, and work together to protect the clean environment of Greater Kaohsiung.
- Expected Benefits:
This year's training for environmental volunteers will focus on spiritual care and local revitalization through hands-on activities. Breaking away from traditional teaching methods, the training will incorporate a spiritual health perspective, aligning with the World Health Organization's definition of health, and ensuring that environmental volunteers receive mental well-being during their service.
